Summer of 1996, Alagoas coast. Tamara is enjoying her last few weeks in the fishing village where she lives before leaving to study in Brasília. One day, she hears about a teenage girl nicknamed “Heartless” because of a scar on her chest. Over the course of the summer, Tamara feels an increasing attraction to this mysterious girl.
The feature film had its world premiere on September 5, 2023 at the 80th Venice International Film Festival, where it was part of the official selection in the Orizzonti Competitive Section. The film is a Brazil-France-Italy co-production; directed and written by Nara Normande and Tião; produced by Emilie Lesclaux, Kleber Mendonça Filho (Cinemascópio), Justin Pechberty, Damien Megherbi (Les Valseurs), Nadia Trevisan, and Alberto Fasulo (Nefertiti Film), and co-produced and distributed by Vitrine Filmes.
The film was shot on location on the coast of Alagoas between September and October 2022, and was completed in Brazil, Italy, and France. The cast includes Maya de Vicq (Tamara), Eduarda Samara (Sem Coração), and Alaylson (Emanuel Galego), with a special appearance by Maeve Jinkings (Fátima).
